What is a zorb?

A zorb is a large, inflatable sphere made of transparent plastic. It is used for a variety of recreational activities, most commonly known as zorbing.

Zorbing involves rolling down a hill or on a flat surface, usually with one or two people secured inside the zorb ball. The rolling motion provides a thrilling and adrenaline-pumping experience.

The zorb ball consists of two separate layers, an inner and an outer chamber, with an air cushion in between. This design enhances safety and prevents any direct impact on the rider. The inside layer is where the riders are placed, while the outer layer acts as a protective barrier against bumps and external forces.

Zorbing can take place on different terrains, including grassy hills, water bodies, or inflatable tracks. Depending on the type of zorb, it can be used for dry or wet zorbing experiences.

The zorb's material is usually made from PVC or TPU plastic, ensuring durability and resistance to punctures. The transparent nature of the plastic allows riders to see outside while enjoying the rolling sensation.

Since its invention in the 1990s by Dwane van der Sluis and Andrew Akers in New Zealand, zorbing has gained popularity worldwide. It has become a popular recreational activity in amusement parks, water parks, and adventure sports destinations.

Zorbing can be experienced individually, with a partner, or in groups of three or more people. It offers a unique and thrilling way to have fun and experience the sensation of being inside a rolling ball.

While zorbing is generally safe, it is essential to follow proper safety guidelines and use zorbing facilities operated by trained professionals. This ensures a controlled and enjoyable experience without any significant risk of injury.
